Decor trends for 2012

It is time for a new look for the new year. I told you I wanted to reorganize some things in my home and redecorate to make it more ours. I'm kind of limited in my options, since the home is rented and we can't do any refurbishing or painting. Time to look at decor trends to spice up the house and to get inspired for new crafting projects. I already know I'm going to continue my chalk board projects and I'm getting started on vinyl decorating, even though that has been all over blog land for a while now.
I'm pretty conservative when it comes to color, I tend to stick to neutrals and blue in any shape and form. Pantone declared the color for 2012 to be Tangerine Tango-a bit too redish for my style. I'm sure the color would make a room decorated in dark brown and white pop. It might even go with blue.

I have seen some new decor trends around the web lately, and some of them are totally me and some are not, but they are still worth exploring, after all my motto for the new year is to keep and open mind. Let's get started, shall we?

This trend is a bit rogue-lot's of metall involved. While I like to look at it it is not me. I like the aspect of upcycling of it.

The next one is Bow Ties - they seem to be the felt flowers of this year. They are very versatile and have lot's of uses. I love the bow tie hair!

This one is my favorite trend at the moment. I'm picking up reclaimed wood boxes left and right! So many uses and they are practically free.

Metallics could fit into some of the other categories as well. They go with the industrial look and the reclaimed wood look as well. I like galvenized buckets.

Thanks to vinyl applications and stencils patterns are coming back. An easy DIY fix to update a room.

ars of any kind are one of my favorite projects, so I really like the bell jars! I didn't get around to making a snow globe, so I think I'm going for a terrarium type instead.

Was there a trend for you in the mix? Are you going to try something new this year or stick with the old and familiar? I would love to hear about it. Cheers,
