{Tablescapes} Red, white, and blue tablescapes

We are nearing the 4th of July slowly, but surely. If you aren't sure how to set your table, here are some ideas. The preppy napkin rings above are easy to make and look wonderful. As always, click on photos to be taken to respective pages.

SALUTE TO SUMMER TABLESTYLING, Think your everyday white dishes can't be made into something special? Think again - A simple gathering of items you may already have around the house, finally putting to use items you may have picked up in your travels, and a few items from the local dollar store can create a tastefully styled tablescape, both saluting summer and the American spirit. READ ABOUT THE TIPS on my blog at http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com. THANKS for coming to visit - AND - Have a Happy July 4th Weekend!, For more information, come check out the post SALUTE TO SUMMER: BUDGET TABLESTYLING TIPS at my blog: http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com. Thanks!! , Dining Rooms Design

For us coastal fans this tablescape is the perfect mix of nautical and patriotic. I plan on doing a similar table this weekend. We will be eating outside on the porch. On Monday we will go on a piknick. What are your plans? Are you going to BBQ?

Head on over to the Tablescaper to check out her patriotic table, and while you are there get inspired by tablesettings for any occassion. They are going to have their meal in the garden surrounded by roses. How wonderful.

This spectacular setting is from Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Head on over to see the entire table in her sun room. Thanks for joining me on another patriotic outing. You can still enter my summer giveaway here. Cheers,

{Inspiration} Patriotic style

Welcome to day 3 of this patriotic week! Today we are going to look at red, white, and blue inspirations for your home. Click on the pictures to be taken to the respective pages. If you have missed the patriotic subway art visit here and to view some patriotic desserts visit here.

These wreaths are so summery and colorful! You can even use them on Flag day and Memorial day or leave them up all summer long.

Patriotic Hanging Luminaries {DIY Decor}

Another example of a DIY lantern. If you change the beads up you can use them year round.

This bicycle just screams summer and Americana to me! It is making quite the statement in your front yard.

Not to forget our patriotic pets. Attach a flag ribbon to his color!

There is something you don't see every day-I love it.

Last but certainly not least is my Americana pillow I made a while back. I used crochet scraps in place of the stars. Don't miss my summer giveaway here.
Join us tomorrow for patriotic tablescapes!

{Travel&Leisure} Florida beaches of Manasota Key&Englewood

Today I'm sharing photos of our recent travel to Florida's Manasota Key and Englewood beaches. The are is located on the Gulf coast between Tampa and Ft. Myers. I enjoy the laid back style of the area, and a few of my blogging buddies live there, too.

This is the traffic circle in Englewood-isn't it grand? Love the sea shell sculpture. In my hometown we have sculptures, too, but they are unidentified objects to me and anyone who is not on drugs. This one is much more purposeful.

The beach was quite busy for a January day. I waded in the ocean, but it was too cold to swim in it. We did take a dip in our pool see here.

I adore those turquoise lanterns-my favorite summer color and it reminds me of the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

One of the many marinas and boat rentals on the road.

A breezy morning at the beach. To see more on Florida beaches visit here and here. Linking up here. Don't miss my new Facebook page! Thanks for coming along!

{Decorating} Coastal accents

Today I'm sharing coastal accents that are popular in Europe right now. Charcoal and white in an outside room are both classy and relaxed. Use an old trunk for a table and hang some lanterns for instant style.

At home on the beaches of North Germany (Nordsee, Ostsee) and the coasts of the North and East Sea's is what is called a 'Strandkorb" (Beach basket). Some are big enough for two people and they are so cozy and protect you from the rough winds of the sea.

Blue and white = beachy bed room. A fur rug warms the tiled floor. Another old trunk serves as table.

Again-you can never go wrong with white, even on a front porch.
And what a beauty this driftwood table is-even though I'd be hesitant to use a glass top for it. I hope you enjoyed this taste of Europe! For more coastal accents visit here and here. All photos via.
Cheers

{Outdoors} Summer at the lake

Guess what-LA heat is here. We are officially in the summer, hot, humid and triple digit mode. The next three months are going to be hell down here. Every morning we take the dogs to the lake, so they can run around and then cool off without overheating.

The Rattlesnake crossing sign on the way to the lake. They once found a 114 pd. Rattler on that road, that's why the sign got put up. My DH just told me they caught a 7 pd. Coral snake.

Can you see how low the lake is? All the sand in the photo is normally under water. We need more rain.

More impressions from the lake walk. To see the lake in Winter, visit here. Linking up here.
